French police gather evidence after Tour de France shooting – Daily Mail
Police in central Paris opened fire on a driver and his three passengers who tried to ram through a security barricade set up for the final stage of the Tour de France. A manhunt is now underway to find the driver, who drove at speed at barriers set up just yards from the American Embassy in the Champs Elysees at 8am this morning. The vehicle has been discovered nearby by police covered in bullet holes, and its registered owner – a man living in Mantes-la-Jolie, west of Paris – is still ‘unaccounted for’ along with his three passengers, two women and a man. Cyclists – including Chris Froome (inset), who will become the first Briton to win the Tour de France twice – will pass through the Place de la Concorde (pictured right) and Champs Elysees in hours to reach the finish line of the competition.
